THREE CHELSEA FANS IN COURT OVER SWANSEA SMOKE BOMBS
Three young Chelsea fans have been bailed for the ridiculous "crime" of trying to take smoke bombs into the Liberty stadium last week. Despite rumours of sniffer dogs at the gate (sniffer dogs are extremely expensive and difficult to train and it is very unlikely even a canine sense of smell would be attuned to a smoke bomb), the bomb was unearthed at the gate during a routine search of a jacket by stewards. The police then went and approached two of the young lad's friends and discovered the other two smoke bombs. The Crown Prosecutor has pressed for draconian Football Banning Orders for all three of the young men who have opposed the application. The Judge has warned the three young Chelsea fans that he is "considering custody...you should prepare yourselves for that."
It is a desperately sad state of affairs that three young supporters have been criminalised for merely trying to bring a bit of colour and spectacle to supporting his team in a cup semi-final. Smoke bombs are not dangerous and are routinely used in paintballing, at nightclubs and at music concerts.
Why are football fans threatened with jail for something that people at a music concert can do ina completely carefree manner? Violent criminals including muggers routinely avoid custodial sentences or their crime but these three are being threatened for merely being passionate football supporters. Enough health and safety rubbish. Enough oppression of football supporters. Enoughsledgehammers to crack wallnuts. Fingers crossed for the lads involved next week - Pyro is NOT a crime. Enough is enough !
The moral of the story is conceal, pop and drop.
